Weekly letter from Caroline Nokes, MP for Romsey and Southampton North

Super Saturday’ as it was billed, turned out to be more of a frustration than anything else, given the Meaningful Vote did not occur. I voted against the Letwin amendment because I felt it was important to progress with the vote on the deal as soon as possible. I would have been content to have sat through the night, indeed the whole weekend should it have been necessary. I had hoped to vote in favour of moving on to the next stage of negotiations, with a deal in place.

Reflecting on the power of stories

THIS church year ,which runs from September like the academic year, the Methodist church has as its theme “Testimony”. This has been chosen by this year’s president and vice-president, the aim is for us to share how we came to be Christians, in the hope that this will encourage others. In a way it’s a throwback to the early days of Methodism when at the start of every service people from the congregation would be invited to give their testimony.
