When two small girls lay the foundation stone for a church

When St Swithun’s was erected at Crampmoor in 1859, the honour of laying the foundation stone was bestowed upon two young girls, the daughter of Captain Suckling of Highwood and the daughter of R G Linzee at Jermyns House. Florence Suckling would have been just 11 and Emily 8 (Salisbury and Winchester Journal, 19 November 1859).
